ABOUT THIS BUILDING

The Arrott Building opened in 1902 at the height of the Industrial Revolution and is now part of Pittsburgh’s Fourth Avenue Historic District. It was designed by acclaimed architect Frederick J. Osterling and named after Irish immigrant businessman James Arrott.

Once the headquarters of Arrott’s booming bathtub and insurance businesses, the building became mostly vacant by the 1970s. After decades of disuse, the Industrialist Hotel opened its doors into a now reimagined space for the modern traveler.

The Industrialist Hotel embodies the best of Pittsburgh—its people and spirit of invention—honoring its past legacy for American ingenuity while telling the story of the new Industrialist.
