ABOUT THIS BUILDING

The Penn Brewery building complex, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was originally built by German immigrant brewers in the 19th century and housed three breweries, including the Eberhardt & Ober Brewery. The present-day Penn Brewery opened its brewery and restaurant in the facility in 1989. This landmark building has many fascinating and unique architectural features, including its lagering caves, where wooden barrels of beer were lagered in the days before modern refrigeration became commonplace.
